1Key concepts: pixel and resolution.

Digital photo - is an image consisting of many small points - “pixels.” These points are not visible in photographs because they are very small and merge into the line.

But if you open a digital photo on your computer using Adobe Photoshop or ACDSee (or another program to view the images), and maximize the image tool Magnifier / Zoom you will see a mosaic of colored squares.

These are the squares and are called “pixels.” Of these blocks consists a digitized image.

The more “pixels” are smaller, but their numbers more, the better is the image quality. This feature is called the image “resolution” and is measured in the number of “pixels” per inch (dpi or ppi) or the “megapixel” - the number of dots (pixels) across the photo. Standard definition is considered to be 300 dpi (pixels per inch).
If you have a 2-3 megapixel camera, you will receive only small (10×15) photographs of good quality.
